Check out the buildup on this air conditioner condenser! After just two months of running, this unit has acquired a lot of debris. Cleaning is simple and does not take long to do. All you need is a garden hose and a soft brush (your finger will also work).
First, MAKE SURE you pull your a/c disconnect outside.
Next, turn the hose on so that you have a light flow of water.
Starting at the top of the unit, run water along the fins, LIGHTLY guide the debris off with your finger or a soft brush. When using your finger, be very careful. Those fins are like razor blades, especially against wet skin. Keep in mind how fragile the condenser fins are as well, and how easily they can be pushed out of shape.
As the gunk builds up, you can pick it out in big chunks. Just keep working it all off until it is clean.
Not clearing off all the debris will build head pressure in your unit. This can ultimately result in leaks at any connection point in the system, as well as effect the efficiency of its operation. Taking good care of your equipment increases its longevity, giving you more bang for your buck!
